Disney's Old Key West Resort Guide
Porches, Olivia's, the Gurgling Suitcase and who this laid-back villa resort suits

Some Disney resorts feel new.
Old Key West feels settled.
Wide porches. Pastel buildings. Palm trees that lean instead of standing at attention. Disney's Old Key West Resort was the original Disney Vacation Club resort, and it feels like a place that has been lived in for a long time and is better for it.
It does not rush. It does not perform.
It simply runs on a slower clock, somewhere between a Florida Keys side street and a quiet waterfront neighborhood.
This is Disney in sandals and soft light.
If you want big theming and a busy lobby, this is not it. If you want room to spread out and a drink by the water at the end of the day, it might be exactly it.
Old Key West at a Glance
Old Key West sits along the Sassagoula River near Disney Springs, with villas spread across a large, leafy property. It is known for some of the most generous villa layouts on property.
- Category: Deluxe Villa (Disney Vacation Club)
- Area: Disney Springs area
- Transportation: Buses to the parks; boat along the Sassagoula River to Disney Springs when it is running, with buses as the backup
- The vibe: Laid-back Key West porch life, with space to breathe
Who It's Best For
Families Who Want Space
Villas with kitchens and room to spread out make longer stays far easier.
Repeat Visitors
If you have done the big themed resorts and now want a home base, Old Key West makes sense.
Couples Who Like Quiet
Evening walks along the waterways, a porch and very little noise.
Disney Springs Fans
Disney Springs is close, which makes dinner and a stroll there an easy evening plan.
Who May Prefer Another Resort
- If you want more energy and themed atmosphere in the same area, look at Port Orleans.
- If you want a short walk to Disney Springs, Saratoga Springs is closer.
- If you want a villa near the parks with a livelier scene, the Beach Club area by EPCOT puts you within walking distance of a lot more.
The property is spread out, and bus rides to the parks are part of the deal. Plan for that.
The Vibe
The energy here is laid-back, residential and quietly warm.
Mornings feel slow and sunlit. Afternoons drift through shade and breeze. Evenings settle into porch lights and gentle water views.
Nothing feels compressed. Everything feels breathable.
It is the kind of place where time stretches without effort, and the best plan is often no plan at all once you are back from the parks.
This is Disney for people who like room to live.
Dining, Bars & Lounges
Old Key West dining is built around comfort and everyday ease. These are places that fit into a vacation instead of interrupting it.
Table Service
Olivia's Cafe is the resort's sit-down restaurant, with home-style cooking and a Key West accent. It is warm, light-filled and endlessly familiar, the kind of place people return to because it feels like a neighborhood spot rather than an event.
If one place captures the heart of this resort, it is Olivia's. It does not chase trends. It simply welcomes.
Bars & Lounges
The Gurgling Suitcase is the resort's small bar near the water, and it is one of my favorite low-key spots on property. Playful, open-air and full of easy charm, it is best known for a signature drink called the Turtle Krawl.
This is where Old Key West shows its personality. Relaxed, friendly and completely unpretentious.
A drink here at dusk, a seat outside and nowhere to be. That is the Tiki Tim definition of a good resort bar, even without a single carved tiki in sight.
Casual & Quick Service
Good's Food to Go is the walk-up quick-service window, with outdoor seating and mobile ordering. It is flexible and perfect for an easy breakfast or a late bite.
Turtle Shack is a seasonal poolside snack spot, so do not count on it every day.
Visiting as a Local
Locals used to treat Old Key West like a neighborhood walk: drive over, wander the waterways, end up at the Gurgling Suitcase.
That approach no longer works. Since June 2026, Disney limits resort parking and Disney Springs resort buses and boats to people with a room, dining or recreation reservation.
So build the evening around a reservation at Olivia's Cafe. That gives you a reason to be here and access to the resort.
Arrive a little early. Walk the waterfront, find a porch-style seat, and let the evening slow down. A drink at the Gurgling Suitcase before or after dinner fits naturally.
If you are pairing Old Key West with a Disney Springs night, check the boat status first. Service has had several pauses for dock work in 2026, with buses filling in.
Tiki Tim's Take
Old Key West makes the most sense when you want space more than spectacle.
It is a resort for routines: coffee on the porch, a long walk by the water, dinner without fuss and a drink at a tiny bar where nobody is in a hurry.
It is not the most convenient resort for park commandos. The buses and the size of the property take some patience.
But if you want Disney to feel gentle, lived-in and a little bit Keys, this is one of the most comfortable places on property to land.
Sometimes the best magic is the kind you settle into.
