Disney's Port Orleans Resort Guide

French Quarter, Riverside, river boats, lounges and who this Moderate resort suits

Illustrated sunset view of Disney's Port Orleans Resort across the water.

Some Disney resorts feel designed.

Port Orleans feels remembered.

Winding paths. Gas lamps. Water that moves instead of standing still. Disney's Port Orleans Resort carries the rhythm of New Orleans and the old river South without trying to recreate either one exactly.

It is really two resorts sharing a river. French Quarter is compact, with wrought iron, courtyards and a little jazz. Riverside is sprawling, with grand mansions, rustic bayou buildings and a big water wheel.

Neither one rushes. They meander. They hum instead of buzz.

This is Disney with jazz in the air.

If you want atmosphere, good evening options and a Moderate price tier, Port Orleans punches well above its weight.

Port Orleans at a Glance

Both halves sit along the Sassagoula River in the Disney Springs area, and guests can stroll between them on the riverside paths.

  • Category: Moderate (Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside)
  • Area: Disney Springs area
  • Transportation: Buses to the parks; boat along the Sassagoula River to Disney Springs
  • The vibe: Atmospheric, storied and gently romantic, with live music after dark

Who It's Best For

Couples

Evening walks along the river, gas lamps and a lounge with live music make for easy date nights.

Families Who Want Theming Without Deluxe Prices

Riverside especially has space, a big themed pool area and room for kids to roam.

Disney Springs Fans

A river boat to Disney Springs is about as pleasant a commute as Disney offers.

Who May Prefer Another Resort

  • If you want to walk or ride the Skyliner to a park, Caribbean Beach or the Riviera will suit you better.
  • If you want a villa with a kitchen and more space in the same area, look at Old Key West.

Riverside is large, and getting from the far buildings to the main hub can take a while. French Quarter is smaller and easier to navigate.

The Vibe

The energy here is moody, warm and gently alive.

Mornings feel misty and reflective. Afternoons drift under trees and over little bridges. Evenings glow with lanterns, river light and music drifting from somewhere nearby.

It never feels crowded. It never feels empty.

It feels like a small river town with its own pace, one that does not ask you to hurry.

This is Disney for people who love atmosphere.

Dining, Bars & Lounges

Port Orleans dining is rooted in comfort, Southern flavor and character. And for a Moderate, the after-dark scene here is genuinely good.

Table Service

Boatwright's Dining Hall at Riverside is the only table-service restaurant across both halves. It sits in a converted boat-building warehouse and leans into Southern and Cajun comfort food. It is a quiet favorite for anyone who wants warmth without spectacle.

Bars & Lounges

River Roost Lounge at Riverside is cozy, nostalgic and my top pick at Port Orleans right now. Its live entertainment from Yehaa Bob Jackson on select evenings has a cult following, and it is the kind of room where music turns into memory. Check the schedule before you go, since performance nights can change.

Scat Cat's Club at French Quarter is normally the heart of the resort's evening energy, with cocktails, live jazz and a room that always feels mid-conversation. It closed for refurbishment in October 2026 and is expected back in early 2027. A temporary bar near the café is filling in for now.

Muddy Rivers Pool Bar at Riverside's Ol' Man Island pool is the easy daytime drink stop.

Casual & Quick Service

Riverside Mill Food Court is the main quick-service spot at Riverside, with a big water wheel turning outside the window.

Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory is French Quarter's food court, playful and flexible. While Scat Cat's Club Café is closed for its refurbishment, this is where the beignets and coffee have moved.

Scat Cat's Club Café is normally the beignet and coffee window, the sweet ritual a lot of Port Orleans fans build their mornings around. It is expected to reopen around the end of 2026.

Visiting as a Local

Port Orleans used to be the classic drop-in evening for locals: wander the river, grab beignets, catch a set in the lounge.

Since June 2026, Disney limits resort parking and Disney Springs resort buses and boats to people with a room, dining or recreation reservation. Wandering over is no longer the plan.

So build the evening around a Boatwright's dinner reservation. Arrive early, walk the river path, and stop by River Roost before or after dinner if it is a music night.

Or stay a night. Port Orleans is one of the better-value ways to get a real Disney evening scene without paying Deluxe prices.

Tiki Tim's Take

Port Orleans makes the most sense when you care about atmosphere more than activity.

It is for people who want an evening walk that feels cinematic, a lounge with a bit of soul and a river boat instead of a parking garage.

The trade-off is buses to the parks and, at Riverside, some long walks.

Timing matters right now too. With Scat Cat's Club out until early 2027, River Roost carries the evening, so lean Riverside for your night out.

But once Scat Cat's is back, this resort will again have two of the most charming lounges at any Moderate on property.

Port Orleans drifts. The music keeps you there.
