Disney Treasure vs Disney Destiny
Which newer Disney cruise ship is better for your vacation?

Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny are among the closest ship comparisons in the current Disney Cruise Line fleet.
They share the same broad Wish-class foundation.
Both offer:
- AquaMouse
- 1923
- Worlds of Marvel
- Palo Steakhouse
- Enchanté
- The Rose
- newer-generation kids clubs
- modern staterooms
- highly themed lounges
- strong Disney storytelling
But the trips themselves are not especially similar.
Disney Treasure currently sails 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral, while Disney Destiny launched from Fort Lauderdale with 4- and 5-night Bahamas and Caribbean itineraries and continues to appear in shorter South Florida sailings.
That creates a very clean distinction:
Treasure is the longer Caribbean adventure.
Destiny is the shorter heroes-and-villains escape.
And that difference matters more than almost anything else onboard.
The Quick Answer
Choose Disney Treasure if you want:
- 7 nights
- Port Canaveral
- Eastern or Western Caribbean
- Jungle Cruise
- Haunted Mansion
- Coco

Choose Disney Destiny if you want:
- 4 or 5 nights
- Fort Lauderdale
- Bahamas or shorter Caribbean itineraries
- Hercules
- The Lion King
- Cruella
- Doctor Strange
- heroes-and-villains theming
- a more dramatic ship personality
If I were choosing purely on the total vacation?

The Biggest Difference: Cruise Length
This is the category that changes the whole trip.
Treasure currently sails 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Disney’s own Treasure page describes the ship specifically around weeklong Caribbean cruising.
Destiny launched with 4- and 5-night cruises to The Bahamas and Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale, with Disney island destinations built into the inaugural pattern.
That means:
Treasure
You settle in.
Destiny
You hit the ground running.
Neither is wrong.
They are just different vacations.
Why Seven Nights Changes Treasure
On Treasure, you have time for:
- all three rotational dining concepts
- repeat dining nights
- multiple lounges
- Palo or Enchanté
- sea days
- Caribbean ports
- kids clubs
- adult time
- actual downtime
You are much less likely to finish the cruise thinking:
We never got to half the ship.
That is a major advantage.
Why Destiny Works for Shorter Trips
Destiny is better if you want:
- a long weekend
- 4 or 5 nights
- Disney islands
- a shorter family vacation
- less total trip cost
- less time away from work or school
That makes Destiny easier to fit into real life.
And that matters.
Which Has Better Dining?
This is very close.
Both ships share:
- Worlds of Marvel
- 1923
The differentiator is:
Treasure
Plaza de Coco
Destiny
Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King
That is a fantastic comparison because both are major musical dining experiences.
Plaza de Coco
Disney Treasure features a multi-night Coco dining experience set around Santa Cecilia, with Mexican-inspired food and live entertainment. Disney’s current Treasure material emphasizes Plaza de Coco as a major signature venue.
If your family loves:
- Coco
- Mexican music
- colorful theatrical dining
- Día de los Muertos themes
Treasure gets a strong edge.
Pride Lands
Disney Destiny answers with:
Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King
This is the ship’s defining family dining experience.
The concept is built around:
- Lion King music
- live performers
- Simba’s story
- dinner theater
If The Lion King is the stronger family obsession?
Destiny may win immediately.
My Dining Pick
For me:
Treasure.
Mostly because Plaza de Coco fits the ship’s adventure identity beautifully and gets more room to breathe on a 7-night trip.
But this is genuinely close.
Which Has Better Adult Lounges?
Also extremely close.
Treasure offers:
- Skipper Society
- Haunted Mansion Parlor
- Periscope Pub
- Scat Cat Lounge
- The Rose
Destiny offers:
- De Vil's
- Haunted Mansion Parlor
- The Sanctum
- Cask & Cannon
- The Rose
Both are excellent.
This may be the strongest head-to-head adult-lounge matchup in the fleet.
Haunted Mansion Parlor
Draw.
Both ships have it.
So Haunted Mansion alone does not decide this comparison.
That is actually useful.
It forces us to look deeper.
Skipper Society vs De Vil's
This is where personality becomes obvious.
Skipper Society
Treasure gives you:
- Jungle Cruise
- adventure-bar atmosphere
- tropical storytelling
- live entertainment
- themed cocktails
De Vil's
Destiny gives you:
- Cruella
- glamor
- piano-lounge energy
- darker adult style
If your taste is:
adventure and tropical escapism
Treasure.
If your taste is:
villain drama and cocktails
Destiny.
Periscope Pub vs Cask & Cannon
Treasure's Periscope Pub is built around 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Disney Parks nostalgia.
Destiny's Cask & Cannon leans more Pirates of the Caribbean pub in personality.
For Disney history nerds?
Treasure.
For a straightforward themed pub vibe?
Destiny.
Scat Cat Lounge vs The Sanctum
Another great contrast.
Scat Cat Lounge
Treasure:
- Aristocats
- jazz
- piano
- vintage lounge atmosphere
The Sanctum
Destiny:
- Doctor Strange
- Marvel mysticism
- darker theatrical environment
This basically comes down to:
jazz cat or sorcerer.
Vacation planning is complicated.
Which Ship Is Better for Adults?
I give:
Treasure a slight edge.
Not because Destiny lacks adult options.
It absolutely does not.
But seven nights gives the adult spaces more value.
You actually have time to revisit:
- Skipper Society
- Haunted Mansion Parlor
- Periscope Pub
- Scat Cat Lounge
- The Rose
instead of trying to sample everything once.
That matters.
Which Is Better for Couples?
Again:
Treasure.
If the couple has a full week.
More time gives you:
- date nights
- premium dining
- sea days
- bars
- Caribbean ports
- Quiet Cove
- slower evenings
Destiny may be better for:
short couples escape.
Treasure may be better for:
actual couples vacation.
Which Has Better Entertainment?
Treasure has:
- Disney The Tale of Moana
- Beauty and the Beast
- Disney Seas the Adventure
Destiny has:
- Disney Hercules
- Disney Seas the Adventure
- other heroes-and-villains entertainment
This is purely taste.
Moana vs Hercules
That is probably the most useful comparison.
Treasure
If Moana is the stronger draw.
Destiny
If Hercules is the stronger draw.
Personally?
Both are excellent fits for their ships.
Treasure uses Moana to reinforce adventure.
Destiny uses Hercules to reinforce heroes and villains.
That is smart thematic design.
Which Is Better for Disney Parks Fans?
Treasure.
Pretty clearly.
Why?
- Jungle Cruise
- Haunted Mansion
- 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
- broader adventure aesthetic
Treasure was explicitly designed around Disney Parks attraction storytelling.
Destiny has Haunted Mansion too, but Parks nostalgia is not the whole ship’s identity.
Which Is Better for Villains Fans?
Destiny.
This is the easiest category.
Its entire concept is built around:
heroes and villains.
Treasure cannot compete there.
Which Is Better for Marvel Fans?
Destiny.
Slightly.
Both have Worlds of Marvel.
Destiny adds The Sanctum and stronger hero/villain framing around the ship.
So Marvel feels more integrated into the overall personality.
Which Is Better for Coco Fans?
Treasure.
No discussion needed.
Which Is Better for Lion King Fans?
Destiny.
Also straightforward.
Which Is Better for Kids?
This is a draw structurally.
Both use newer-generation Disney youth programming.
So the real question is:
Which franchises do your kids care about more?
Choose Treasure if they lean toward:
- Coco
- Moana
- adventure
Choose Destiny if they lean toward:
- Lion King
- Hercules
- villains
- Marvel
Which Is Better for Tweens and Teens?
I would give:
Treasure.
Because seven nights gives older kids more time to build a social rhythm in Edge or Vibe.
They can:
- meet people
- revisit clubs
- explore independently
- still join family activities
Short cruises end just as everyone gets comfortable.
Which Ship Has Better Itineraries?
This is not a fair fight because the trip styles are intentionally different.
Treasure’s current 2027 schedule includes repeated 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings from Port Canaveral. Published Eastern examples include Tortola, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay; Western examples include Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Falmouth and Castaway Cay.
Select 7-night Caribbean sailings now appear as well.
Choose based on what you want.
Treasure for Eastern Caribbean
Current Treasure examples include:
- Tortola
- St. Thomas
- Castaway Cay.
That is a strong itinerary if you want:
- beaches
- Caribbean islands
- sailing
- snorkeling
- full-week cruising
Treasure for Western Caribbean
Current Treasure examples include:
- Cozumel
- Grand Cayman
- Falmouth
- Castaway Cay.
That gives you:
- reefs
- Mexico
- Jamaica
- Cayman
- Disney island day
Very different vacation.
Destiny for Bahamas
Destiny’s shorter itineraries can include:
- Nassau
- Castaway Cay
- Lookout Cay
- sometimes both Disney island destinations.
That gives Destiny a cleaner:
Disney beach getaway
identity.
Which Homeport Is Better?
Port Canaveral for Treasure
Best for:
- Central Florida
- Walt Disney World combinations
- Orlando visitors
- local Florida cruisers
Fort Lauderdale for Destiny
Best for:
- South Florida
- Miami area
- FLL flights
- pre/post cruise beach stay
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is also very close to the cruise terminal, which makes fly-in logistics unusually convenient.
Which Is Better for a Walt Disney World + Cruise Trip?
Treasure if you want the cruise to be the main vacation.
Seven nights plus Disney World is a substantial trip.
Destiny if you want a shorter cruise added onto something else.
Fort Lauderdale is less convenient from Disney World, though, at least until Destiny shifts to Port Canaveral in November 2027.
For pure Central Florida convenience:
Treasure wins.
Which Is Better for a Short Vacation?
Destiny.
No question.
Four or five nights is much easier to fit into:
- school calendars
- work
- quick family trips
Treasure requires more commitment.
Which Is Better for a Full Vacation?
Treasure.
Also no question.
Seven nights gives the ship and itinerary room to work properly.
Which Ship Feels More Cohesive?
I would give this to:
Treasure.
Adventure is a very strong organizing idea.
You see it in:
- Coco
- Moana
- Jungle Cruise
- Haunted Mansion
- 20,000 Leagues
Destiny is cohesive too.
But heroes and villains is broader.
Treasure feels more like one continuous story.
Which Ship Feels More Dramatic?
Destiny.
That is basically its job.
Cruella.
Hercules.
Doctor Strange.
Villains.
Haunted Mansion.
The Lion King.
Subtlety was not invited.
Which Ship Would Tiki Tim Pick?
Disney Treasure.
Again.
Because:
- seven nights
- Caribbean
- Jungle Cruise
- Haunted Mansion
- Skipper Society
- Cozumel
- St. Thomas
- Castaway Cay
It is almost suspiciously aligned with Tiki Tim Adventures.
Destiny is excellent.
Treasure simply fits the brand more naturally.
Choose Disney Treasure If... Choose Treasure if you want:
- 7 nights
- Eastern or Western Caribbean
- Port Canaveral
- Disney Parks nostalgia
- Coco
- Moana
- Jungle Cruise
- excellent adult lounges
- a complete cruise vacation
Choose Disney Destiny If... Choose Destiny if you want:
- 4 or 5 nights
- Fort Lauderdale
- Bahamas
- Disney island destinations
- Hercules
- The Lion King
- villains
- Marvel
- a shorter high-energy Disney cruise
The Verdict
For the better overall vacation, I choose:
Disney Treasure.
The weeklong itineraries simply give the ship more room to deliver.
For the better short Disney escape, I choose:
Disney Destiny.
The ship’s strong personality fits a shorter, more concentrated vacation well.
Neither is the wrong answer.
They solve different problems.
Tiki Tim’s Verdict
If you want:
a week of Disney adventure through the Caribbean
choose Treasure.
If you want:
four or five nights of heroes, villains and Disney island time
choose Destiny.
If the deciding vote belongs to the cocktail lounges?
I understand completely.
