Disney Wish vs Disney Treasure
Which Disney cruise ship is actually better for your vacation?

Disney Wish and Disney Treasure look similar for a reason.
They are closely related ships.
They share:
- the same broad ship family
- AquaMouse
- similar stateroom categories
- many of the same family recreation concepts
- premium adult dining such as Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté
- newer-generation Disney Cruise Line design
But the vacations they create are very different.
Disney Wish leans into:
storybook Disney, Frozen, Star Wars and shorter Bahamas sailings.
Disney Treasure leans into:
adventure, Disney Parks nostalgia, Coco, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise and longer Caribbean cruising.
Disney currently positions Wish around sailings from Port Canaveral, with popular itineraries including The Bahamas and other seasonal regions, while Treasure is positioned around Eastern and Western Caribbean cruising with Castaway Cay in its itinerary mix.
So the question is not:
Which ship is newer?
They are both new-generation Disney.
The better question is:
Which ship creates the vacation you actually want?
The Quick Answer
Choose Disney Wish if you want:
- a shorter Disney cruise
- Port Canaveral
- Bahamas-focused travel
- Frozen dining
- Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge
- a very concentrated Disney experience
- a cruise that pairs easily with Walt Disney World
Choose Disney Treasure if you want:
- a full-week Caribbean vacation
- Disney Parks-inspired storytelling
- Jungle Cruise
- Haunted Mansion
- Coco
- Moana
- stronger adult lounge variety
- more time to actually enjoy the ship
If you gave me no other information?
I would choose Disney Treasure for the richer overall vacation.
But that does not automatically make it the right ship for you.

The ships share a lot structurally, but the experiences layered onto that structure create very different personalities. Disney’s current materials emphasize Wish’s Frozen, Star Wars and Little Mermaid offerings, while Treasure’s lineup centers Parks-inspired venues such as Skipper Society and Haunted Mansion Parlor, along with Plaza de Coco and The Tale of Moana.
The Biggest Difference: Trip Length
This may matter more than anything onboard.
Disney Wish has historically been strongly associated with shorter Bahamas cruising.
Disney Treasure is designed around a longer Caribbean vacation.
That changes the entire experience.
Why Shorter Wish Cruises Feel Different
On a short cruise, every night matters.
You may only have time for:
- three or four dinners
- a few major shows
- one or two lounges
- a Disney island day
- maybe Nassau
- limited sea time
The ship can feel like:
Disney compressed into a long weekend.
That can be excellent.
It can also feel rushed.
Why Treasure Benefits From More Time
Treasure gives you more breathing room.
You have time to:
- experience all rotational dining
- revisit favorite venues
- try multiple lounges
- spend real time in Quiet Cove
- use the kids clubs
- enjoy Caribbean ports
- fit in adult dining
- have actual sea days
- do absolutely nothing occasionally
That last one matters.
A vacation improves dramatically when every hour is not competing for survival.
Which Has Better Dining?
This depends heavily on your family.
Both ships share:
- Worlds of Marvel
- 1923
The big difference is the third rotational restaurant.
Disney Wish: Arendelle
Wish has:
Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure
This is a theatrical Frozen dining experience.
For a family that loves:
- Elsa
- Anna
- Kristoff
- Frozen music
this can be one of the biggest reasons to choose Wish.
Disney continues to feature Arendelle as a major Wish dining experience.
It is immersive.
It is energetic.
It is absolutely not subtle.
Disney Treasure: Plaza de Coco
Treasure replaces Frozen with:
Plaza de Coco
Disney gives Treasure a Coco-inspired dining experience with live entertainment and a stronger Mexican cultural influence.
That fits Treasure’s adventure identity much better.
If your family prefers:
Coco over Frozen
Treasure gets an immediate advantage.
Which Dining Lineup Would I Choose?
For adults?
Treasure.
For a family with young Frozen-obsessed children?
Wish.
For overall variety across a longer cruise?
Treasure.
The answer changes based on who is sitting at the table.
Worlds of Marvel
Both ships have Worlds of Marvel.
That makes it less useful as the deciding factor.
What matters more is:
- which specific programming is operating on your sailing
- how much Marvel matters to your family
- whether you enjoy theatrical dining at all
Do not choose between Wish and Treasure based solely on the fact that one has Marvel.
They both do.
1923
Both ships also have 1923.
This is the calmer, more elegant rotational-dining experience.
It is useful precisely because not every dinner needs:
music
characters
screens
plot development.
Sometimes dinner should just be dinner.
Which Has Better Adult Lounges?
Treasure wins.
Pretty comfortably.
Wish has a strong lounge lineup.
Disney currently lists Wish venues including:
- Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge
- The Bayou
- Keg & Compass
- Nightingale's
- The Rose
- Cove Café.
That is good.
Treasure simply has a more interesting collection.
Disney currently lists Treasure venues including:
- Haunted Mansion Parlor
- Skipper Society
- Periscope Pub
- Scat Cat Lounge
- The Rose
- additional adult entertainment spaces.
For Tiki Tim Adventures?
Treasure is not even being subtle about wanting our attention.
Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge vs Haunted Mansion Parlor
This is probably the cleanest one-on-one lounge comparison.
Hyperspace Lounge
Wish gives Star Wars fans a dedicated galactic cocktail environment.
Disney currently lists it as exclusive to Disney Wish.
If you are a major Star Wars fan?
That is a real advantage.
Haunted Mansion Parlor
Treasure offers a lounge, adults-only at night, styled as the drawing room of a classic cruise liner with an original Haunted Mansion story and themed cocktails.
For Disney Parks fans?
This is extremely compelling.
My Pick: Haunted Mansion Parlor
Purely on concept?
Treasure.
Haunted Mansion works naturally as a strange adult cocktail environment.
But actual lounge quality still depends on:
- drinks
- service
- atmosphere
- crowding
The IP does not get automatic points.
The Bayou vs Skipper Society
This is another interesting comparison.
The Bayou
Wish uses Princess and the Frog-inspired atmosphere.
It brings:
- New Orleans styling
- cocktails
- music
- a more romantic Disney-lounge environment
Skipper Society
Treasure uses Jungle Cruise.
Disney officially describes Skipper Society as an adult-exclusive cocktail lounge with live entertainment, themed drinks and nods to Jungle Cruise attractions around the world.
This is where Treasure's Parks DNA becomes really obvious.
My Pick: Skipper Society
No surprise here.
Adventure bar.
Jungle Cruise.
Cocktails.
Live music.
This is basically a Tiki Tim assignment waiting to happen.
Keg & Compass vs Periscope Pub
Wish has:
Keg & Compass
A nautical pub.
Treasure has:
Periscope Pub
Disney says Periscope Pub is inspired by the former Walt Disney World attraction 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage, with craft beer, cocktails and light bites.
For Disney Parks nostalgia?
Treasure wins again.
Which Ship Is Better for Disney Parks Fans?
Treasure.
This may be Treasure’s strongest differentiator.
Disney explicitly describes Treasure as the first Disney ship to bring iconic Disney Parks attraction stories to sea.
You get major references to:
- Jungle Cruise
- Haunted Mansion
- 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
That gives the ship a layer of nostalgia that Wish simply does not emphasize in the same way.
If you love Disney because of the parks?
Treasure has a serious advantage.
Which Ship Is Better for Star Wars Fans?
Wish.
Hyperspace Lounge gives Wish the clearest Star Wars advantage.
Treasure has plenty of Disney storytelling.
But Wish owns this category.
Which Ship Is Better for Frozen Fans?
Wish.
Arendelle makes this easy.
If your child would consider dinner with Frozen entertainment a major vacation event?
Choose accordingly.
Which Ship Is Better for Coco Fans?
Treasure.
Plaza de Coco is one of its signature experiences.
No debate necessary.
Which Ship Has Better Entertainment?
This gets closer.
Wish emphasizes experiences including:
- The Little Mermaid
- Disney Seas the Adventure
- other Broadway-style Disney productions.
Disney currently highlights The Little Mermaid as one of Wish’s signature entertainment offerings.
Treasure emphasizes:
- Disney The Tale of Moana
- Beauty and the Beast
- Disney Seas the Adventure.
Disney currently highlights The Tale of Moana as a major Treasure experience.
My Entertainment Pick
Treasure.
Mostly because Moana + Coco + Parks-inspired lounges creates a stronger overall adventure identity.
But families with younger kids may prefer Wish's lineup.
This is close.
AquaMouse vs AquaMouse
Both ships have AquaMouse.
So this category is basically a draw.
The ride storytelling differs, but the core concept is shared.
Both Wish and Treasure share similar newer-generation onboard recreation and activity structures.
This should not be the deciding factor.
Kids Clubs
This is another category where the ships share a lot of underlying DNA.
Both have:
- Disney's Oceaneer Club
- Edge
- Vibe
- "it's a small world" nursery
- newer-generation youth spaces.
Disney’s current deck plans confirm Oceaneer Club and nursery spaces aboard both Wish and Treasure.
The deciding question is not:
Which one has kids clubs?
Both do.
It is:
Which franchises and trip length fit your children better?
Which Is Better for Younger Kids?
I would give:
Wish a slight edge.
Why?
- Frozen
- strong princess/fairytale identity
- very concentrated Disney environment
- shorter cruise if parents are testing whether kids like cruising
Treasure still works beautifully for young children.
Wish just has a slightly more obvious younger-family personality.
Which Is Better for Tweens and Teens?
Treasure.
Mostly because:
- longer cruise
- more time for Edge/Vibe
- more diverse lounge/entertainment atmosphere around the ship
- Caribbean ports
- more space in the itinerary for independence
A 7-night cruise gives older children enough time to build their own vacation rhythm.
Which Is Better for Adults?
Treasure.
This is probably the easiest category.
The combination of:
- Haunted Mansion Parlor
- Skipper Society
- Periscope Pub
- Scat Cat Lounge
- The Rose
- Palo Steakhouse
- Enchanté
gives adults more variety across a longer trip. Disney’s current lounge listings show Treasure’s ship-specific adult venue lineup.
Wish is still good for adults.
Treasure simply has more room to breathe.
Which Is Better for Couples?
Again:
Treasure.
Especially if you want:
- multiple date nights
- cocktails
- adult dining
- lounges
- sea days
- Caribbean itinerary
- a longer vacation
Wish can work beautifully for a short couples getaway.
Treasure works better as a complete couples vacation.
Which Is Better for a Walt Disney World + Cruise Trip?
Wish.
This is where Wish becomes extremely compelling.
Shorter sailings from Port Canaveral integrate naturally with a Central Florida trip.
That means:
- Walt Disney World
- short drive to port
- 3- or 4-night cruise
- Disney island destination
- home
That is a very easy Disney vacation structure.
Which Is Better as a Standalone Cruise Vacation?
Treasure.
Seven nights gives the cruise enough time to stand entirely on its own.
You do not need:
three days at Walt Disney World first
to make the trip feel substantial.
Treasure is the vacation.
Which Has Better Itineraries?
This depends entirely on what you want.
Wish
Current Disney materials highlight popular itineraries including:
- The Bahamas
- Disney island destinations
- and upcoming seasonal regions such as Europe, Canada and Bermuda as deployment evolves.
Treasure
Disney currently emphasizes:
- Eastern Caribbean
- Western Caribbean
- Castaway Cay.
If you want a short Bahamas trip?
Wish.
If you want a full Caribbean cruise?
Treasure.
Simple.
Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay
Wish has historically been especially well positioned for Disney island-focused Bahamas trips.
Treasure's Caribbean sailings may include Disney island calls depending on itinerary.
If visiting:
- Castaway Cay
- Lookout Cay
- both
is your top priority, compare the exact sailing rather than choosing only by ship.
The itinerary wins.
Staterooms
This is close to a draw.
Both ships offer:
- Inside
- Oceanview
- Verandah
- Concierge
and similar Wish-class design principles.
Disney’s current deck plans confirm those primary categories on both ships.
Your room decision should depend on:
- price
- exact layout
- party size
- location
- trip length
not ship name.
Which Ship Makes a Verandah More Valuable?
Treasure.
Because you have more nights to use it.
On a short Wish cruise, you may spend very little waking time in your stateroom.
On a weeklong Treasure sailing, private outdoor space has more opportunity to become part of the trip.
Not required.
More useful.
Concierge: Wish vs Treasure
Both offer substantial Concierge accommodation options.
This is another category where I would compare:
- exact room
- current amenities
- sailing price
- itinerary
rather than assume one ship automatically wins.
Wish-class Concierge can become very expensive very quickly.
Do the math.
Which Ship Feels More Cohesive?
Treasure.
Wish feels like a collection of:
- Frozen
- Marvel
- Star Wars
- Disney fantasy
Treasure feels like those experiences were filtered through one broader idea:
adventure.
That makes the ship's personality easier to understand.
And personality matters.
Which Ship Feels More “Disney”? Wish.
If your definition of Disney is:
- princesses
- characters
- Frozen
- Marvel
- Star Wars
- fairytale fantasy
Wish delivers that extremely efficiently.
Treasure feels more like:
Disney for people who love the parks, adventures and deeper catalog.
Which Ship Would Tiki Tim Pick?
Disney Treasure.
Not particularly close.
Because:
- Jungle Cruise
- Haunted Mansion
- Periscope Pub
- Caribbean
- seven nights
- Coco
- Moana
- adult lounge variety
This ship is basically waving a Hawaiian shirt from the pier.
But that is my fit.
Your family may be different.
Choose Disney Wish If... Choose Wish if your priorities are:
- short cruise
- Port Canaveral
- Bahamas
- Walt Disney World pairing
- Frozen
- Star Wars
- younger children
- concentrated Disney storytelling
- less vacation time
Choose Disney Treasure If... Choose Treasure if your priorities are:
- 7 nights
- Caribbean
- Disney Parks nostalgia
- Jungle Cruise
- Haunted Mansion
- Coco
- Moana
- adult lounges
- couples experience
- more relaxed cruise pace
The Verdict
If you ask:
Which is the better ship?
I think Treasure has the stronger overall personality and offers the better complete cruise vacation.
If you ask:
Which is the better ship for a short Disney trip from Central Florida?
Wish may win easily.
That is why I would not rank these ships without context.
The right choice depends on the vacation.
Tiki Tim's Verdict
If you want:
Disney compressed into a long weekend
book Wish.
If you want:
Disney turned into a full Caribbean adventure
book Treasure.
And if Haunted Mansion cocktails and Jungle Cruise drinks somehow enter the decision?
You already know where I'm going.
