Disney Cruise Gratuities Guide
How much to tip, who gets it and what is already added automatically

Disney Cruise Line gratuities are easy to overlook when you first price the vacation.
As of October 2026, Disney recommends:
- $16 per guest, per night in standard staterooms
- $27.25 per guest, per night in Concierge staterooms and suites
That recommendation applies to every guest, including children and infants.
Bars, wine, deck service and spa services currently carry an automatic 18% gratuity, and adult dining adds one too.
Standard Stateroom
$16 per guest, per night, distributed among:
- Dining Room Server
- Assistant Server
- Head Server
- Stateroom Host
Concierge
$27.25 per guest, per night, including the standard service positions plus Assistant Stateroom Host and Concierge Lounge Team.

Should You Prepay?
I generally would. The amount is predictable and prepaying removes one more large charge from the onboard account.
If you do not prepay, Disney adds the recommended optional amount to your onboard account.
Can You Change the Amount?
Yes, through Guest Services before the end of the cruise.
If there is a genuine service problem, address it while onboard instead of silently punishing the entire service team at the end.
Automatic 18% Gratuity
The standard $16 does not include bar purchases, wine, adult/premium dining, deck-service tabs or spa services.
These currently receive an automatic 18% gratuity.
Example: a $15 cocktail carries a $2.70 automatic gratuity, for a total of $17.70 before any extra optional tip.
Read the receipt so you do not accidentally tip twice.
Room Service
Most room service is included, but room-service gratuity is not part of the standard prepaid gratuity pool. Keep a few small bills if you expect to use it often.
Port Adventures
Standard gratuities do not include guides and drivers. Tip according to the excursion, destination norms, duration and service quality.
Children Count
Yes. Children and infants are included in Disney's recommended per-person gratuity calculation.
Formula
Standard room
Guests × nights × $16
Concierge
Guests × nights × $27.25
Then create a second bucket for drinks, adult dining, spa, room service and excursions.
Example: Family of Four, 7-Night Cruise
Standard gratuities:
4 × 7 × $16 = $448
If the adults also spend $550 across qualifying bar/premium/spa charges:
18% = $99
Total gratuity-related spending:
$547 before extra tips or excursion tipping.
My Recommendation
Prepay the standard gratuities.
Then separate additional tipping into:
Automatically charged
- alcohol
- beverages
- wine
- premium/adult dining
- deck service
- spa
Discretionary
- room service
- excursion guides
- extra reward for exceptional service
Tiki Tim's Gratuity Rule
Do the math before the cruise.
For a standard room: $16 × people × nights.
For Concierge: $27.25 × people × nights.
Prepay it.
Then remember that cocktails, premium dining and spa already carry an 18% gratuity.
Tip extra when somebody genuinely makes the vacation better.
But do not arrive on the final night shocked that four humans received seven days of service.
